Tamara Renée is an old soul newly planted in the earthly realm with roots that are deep and transient. Her interplanetary travel is frequent. In her voice is a mixture of ethereal jazz, gritty blues, guttural funk- all topped with her natural hip-hop swag. If you are a grandma, child, teenager, mama, papa, cousin, lover, hater, or any other human being/extraterrestrial who inhabits this earth and beyond- you will be able to find a part of you in Tamara’s voice and words. With each project and performance Tamara sheds her skin to reveal a deeper layer of vulnerability, strength, and intensity.
Tamara Renée's 3rd project and 1st full length LP, CONJUR WOMAN, is named after a series of collages by Harlem Renaissance artist, Romare Bearden. The Conjur Woman is a mythical, black, southern, archetype who holds the moon in a locket at her breast. She is able to transform her reality and her solitude is her strength. This woman, dark place is where her treasure lies. Conjur Woman is an initiation and a birthright. This album signifies the threshold, the cross over to the obeah woman. Inspired by great albums such as D’angelo’s- Voodoo, Andre 3000's- The Love Below, Erykah Badu’s- Mama’s Gun, Minnie Ripperton's-Adventures in Paradise, Marvin Gaye's- Here My Dear, Kendrick Lamar's- To Pimp a Butterfly, and Journey to Satchidananda by Alice Coltrane. Tamara fuses elements of soul, jazz, hip-hop, and psychedelic music to create a mix that is familiar, thrilling, and innovative.
The journey of CONJUR WOMAN began 5 years ago when Tamara began to write songs on her brand new all white american made Fender Stratocaster. Take a journey with Tamara through her despair, pure joy, love, sex, lust, rage, and mourning. She is cunning, vulnerable, sexy and strong all while extremely playful and masterful. Tamara’s vocal styling, production, and performance is multifaceted, complex, refreshing, and all her own. Subversive by nature Tamara Renée alters destiny through the presence of her living myth. She is everything and nothing. Eradicating notions of “high” and “low” art Tamara exists within polarities. Non-binary and whole she fuses her legacy of black southern culture, hindu mythology, Caribbean Orisha worship, ancient indigenous ritual, and avant-garde performance art.
CONJUR WOMAN is a testament to surrendering to a vision. A responsibility. A release of a burden. A rite of passage. A dream. Self-transformation. A healing to the abuse stricken to an autonomous wild woman.

"I. In a world of worlds, conjur is woman-both inheritance and initiation. First is sound, the undeniable additive to the initiation, the mating call of life. It is indeed the workings of woman, historically, that this inheritance is birthed through the worlds from which sound, the language, music, is formed. The calling... the voicing of which woman has been reserved the space to remind us of this inheritance, is the conjuring. "
